Hello, Saturday

Welcome to the first fall Saturday in Blacksburg.

It is a gorgeous morning, and it looks like it is going to be a great day for football. No. 14 Virginia Tech (0-1) hosts Marshall (1-0).

Worsham Field is well manicured and the end zones are painted with "Virginia Tech." The press box is empty (other than me). Ushers in lime green shirts are meeting in groups their areas around the stadium presumably to discuss protocol. I can see smoke rising off a stand selling those famous turkey legs near the south end zone.

If you are a Hokie fan this should get your blood pumping: In order to check the public announce system, the folks in the booth played the opening few strains of Metallica's "Enter Sandman."

Indeed, football is back at Lane Stadium.
