Monday links

There will be plenty added to Hokies Journal later on Monday. But for now, here are some links.

Quickly looking back at the weekend that was, what did we learn? ESPN.com's Heather Dinich offers her take.

While Virginia Tech fans are presumably still dazed from the Hokies' 20-17 loss to North Carolina, perhaps even the more difficult reality to come to grips with is that Duke controls its own fate in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Yes. Duke. (Of course, the Blue Devils still has four conference games, including No. 10 Georgia Tech and No. 16 Miami.)

Now looking forward to East Carolina. After being sidelined with an illness, running back Brandon Jackson is looking to return to the fold in the Pirates' backfield.

Bud Foster, the Hokies' defensive coordinator, called playing at East Carolina like entering a hornets' nest. You want evidence? Here it is. Virginia Tech has "Enter Sandman." East Carolina has "Purple Haze."
