Monday links
After some down time, Virginia Tech gets back to work on Monday. The Hokies play at Maryland on Saturday.
While all was quiet in Blacksburg, there was plenty of weekend fodder from College Park.
As of Monday morning, the biggest news about the game was that Terrapins might be without quarterback Chris Turner, who was knocked out of Maryland's 38-31 loss on Saturday to N.C. State with an MCL injury in his left knee. Turner is questionable for the game against the Hokies.
But the bigger picture is this: Maryland is not very good. The Terrapins have been eliminated from bowl contention. The good news from College Park? Maryland's field hockey team won an eight Atlantic Coast Conference title.
Meanwhile, Virginia Tech became bowl eligible with its 16-3 win over East Carolina on Thursday. Now the Hokies are playing for the best bowl placement (in addition to a 10-win season or pride or not losing or whatever each individual player's motivation is). ESPN.com's Heather Dinich still sees the Hokies playing in the Chick-fil-A Bowl. Note her pick for ACC champion.
