Merry Christmas to all, and to all, some links.
But first, I wanted to let you know Hokies Journal will be inactive this weekend. Check back starting Monday morning for a full week of bowl coverage. Virginia Tech (9-3) takes on Tennessee (7-5) in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Thursday in Atlanta.
All of the Volunteers were ruled academically eligible for the bowl game, while it was announced on Wednesday that senior cornerback Stephan Virgil would not be available to play for Virginia Tech.
Before the game, plenty of people will be talking about Virginia Tech's Ryan Williams, who has 1,538 yards rushing and needs just 110 yards to set an all-time school single-season rushing mark. But Tennessee running back Montario Hardesty is also on the verge of a historic year. He is 158 yards from tying Tennessee's single-season rushing record, set by Travis Stephens with 1,464 yards in 2001.
