Saturday links

This is the type of Saturday college football fans have been waiting for. Unfortunately for Virginia Tech fans, the Hokies are not directly involved in the goings-on. Here are your links to get you ready for a big day.

First of all, a pause to celebrate Ryan Williams's dazzling freshman season. He was honored as the Atlantic Coast Conference rookie of the year. ESPN.com's Heather Dinich has an interview with Williams in Tampa, Fla., where he received the award and the side of Saturday's conference title game between Georgia Tech and Clemson.

Virginia Tech is 9-3 and ranked 12th in the Bowl Championship Series standings, making it eligible for an at-large selection. The chance of that seem unlikely. Here's a complete breakdown of what needs to happen for the Hokies to make the BCS.

The Hokies would be sitting pretty if Boise State (12-0) were to lose to New Mexico State (3-9). The Broncos, however, are placing "tremendous importance on this game," as Coach Chris Petersen said. Assuming Boise State wins, the Hokies would need the bowl representatives to overlook the Broncos because they play in the relatively weak Western Athletic Conference.

Whatever happens, it should be an entertaining day of college football. So sit back and enjoy this final big Saturday before the bowl season.
