Tuesday links

Happy Tuesday. Enjoy the links.

As I tweeted on Monday, four Virginia Tech football players were named first-team all-ACC: running back Ryan Williams, linebacker Cody Grimm, place kicker Matt Waldron and punter Brent Bowden. (I'll have a little something about each of them later on.)

Now, onto basketball. The Hokies (4-1) play at Iowa in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. The odds might be in the Hokies' favor, because the Hawkeyes have never won a game in this yearly nonconference series. When playing Iowa, the ACC has won the series each of the 10 years since the event started.

But there have already been pleasantries between the two programs. When Iowa Coach Todd Lickliter was at Butler, Virginia Tech Coach Seth Greenberg called regarding how hard Lickliter's team played. It meant a lot to Lickliter. "If you see Seth Greenberg’s teams play," he said, "they are aggressive, and they play hard.”
