Wednesday links
One day, two all-Americans. Here are your Wednesday links, recapping a momentous day for two Virginia Tech players named to all-America teams on Tuesday.
Linebacker Cody Grimm is a former walk-on. Running back Ryan Williams is a freshman sensation. But they are both all-Americans.
That temporarily overshadowed the big news that came out of Blacksburg on Monday: that Bud Foster would stick around as the Hokies' defensive coordinator. Darryl Slater of the Richmond Times-Dispatch takes a closer look at Foster and his arrangement at Virginia Tech.
Meanwhile, Tennessee Coach Lane Kiffin again said his staff has not violated any recruiting rules. The Volunteers, who take on the Hokies in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Dec. 31 in Atlanta, are being investigated by the NCAA over their alleged use of hostesses in recruiting. ''We're very excited about what's going on in recruiting with us as far as the great players we signed last year and what's going on this year,'' Kiffin said. ''We take the rules and bylaws of the NCAA very serious."
