Wednesday links

It's Wednesday, and that means we're halfway to the weekend. Here are your links.

The NCAA is investigating Virginia Tech's opponent in the Chick-fil-A Bowl, Tennessee, about its football recruiting practices. The New York Times reported on Wednesday that a "significant part of the investigation is focused on the use of recruiting hostesses who have become folk heroes on Tennessee message boards for their ability to help lure top recruits."

Since Tennessee Coach Lane Kiffin took over in December 2008 after being fired as the Oakland Raiders’ coach, the Volunteers have committed at least six secondary NCAA violations, which are unintentional violations that provide minimal recruiting or competitive advantage.

Fans of both Virginia Tech and Tennessee are pumped up for the teams' bowl meeting in the on Dec. 31 in Atlanta. But what about everyone else? offers its take on the bowls, rankings 'em top to bottom. Do you agree? Feel free to drop your thoughts in the comments section below.
