Thursday links
It's the first Thursday of the new semester for Virginia Tech students, meaning it's the start of the first weekend. But after that, there's little excitement in Blacksburg. The show goes on, so here are some links.
The Post's Eric Prisbell on Wednesday offered his weekly projection for where Virginia Tech would end up in March. Bad news this week. He thinks the Hokies have played their way out of the NCAA tournament.
"Tech’s resume," Prisbell writes on The 65 blog, "is weaker than I thought it would be before I took a close look. The Hokies simply have not done anything yet to attract the attention of selection committee members – if the final decisions came down today. They need more games against better competition and they need to fare well at least some of those games."
The Virginia Tech women's basketball team plays No. 6 Duke on Thursday night at Durham, N.C. The Hokies enter the contest with a record of 11-6 overall and 1-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. It represents an important opportunity for Virginia Tech.
