Dorenzo Hudson nagged by foot injury
Junior guard Dorenzo Hudson has emerged as an unlikely scoring threat for Virginia Tech this season. But in the past few games, he has done it while being nagged by a right foot injury.
Hudson said he sprained his foot in the Hokies' loss at Florida State on Jan. 16 and re-aggravated the injury in a win at Virginia on Jan. 28. This week, he was seen on Virginia Tech's campus wearing a walking boot, and he was limited somewhat in practice this week.
Asked if the foot has been bothering him, Hudson said: "Little bit, but not really. Once the game gets started, I’ll be pretty much fine."
Indeed, there has not been much impact on Hudson to this point. In fact, he led Virginia Tech in scoring in two of its last three games, finishing 18 points and the game-winning basket in a victory over Boston College on Jan. 23 and 22 points in a loss at Miami on Jan. 31.
Virginia Tech (16-4, 3-3) hosts North Carolina (13-8, 2-4) on Thursday at Cassell Coliseum.
