Tuesday links

Happy Tuesday. I'm sure many of you are looking forward to Wednesday's national signing day, but we'll stick with basketball until then. Here's some reading.

Virginia Tech hosts North Carolina on Thursday night. But these aren't the Tar Heels everyone is used to. In fact, they would probably be left out of the NCAA tournament, so the Hokies are in great position to knock off North Carolina, which still would mean something in Blacksburg.

How bad is it in idyllic Chapel Hill? "I'm about as frustrated as I've ever been in my entire life," North Carolina Coach Roy Williams said after the Tar Heels' 15-point loss to Virginia on Sunday night. "I've been fortunate enough to have some good times, but this is certainly not one of them."

Williams did say that North Carolina won't splinter as the team scrapes by this season. Here's a Q&A transcript with the coach for a look at where the Tar Heels stand, at least from the vantage point inside their locker room. In light of all this, I wonder if the atmosphere at Cassell Coliseum will match its usual fever pitch for a North Carolina game.
