Virginia Tech hosts Wake Forest in big test
Happy Fat Tuesday. So eat, drink and be merry. And the revelry might be even more applicable for Virginia Tech fans by late Tuesday night.
Virginia Tech hosts Wake Forest in a game rife with implications for the Hokies. And in the spirit of the whole Fat Tuesday thing, I'd guess that a win would touch of a lively midweek celebration in Blacksburg.
Indeed, it's a huge few days for Virginia Tech, which Joe Crandley of the Collegiate Times, the Virginia Tech student newspaper, noted on Monday. "In games against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and the Duke Blue Devils this week," Crandley writes, "the Hokies possess a chance to silence those who doubt whether Tech can really maintain its position toward the top of the ACC standings."
Wake Forest broke into the Associated Press rankings on Monday, coming in at No. 23.
And I wrote a similar piece on Terrell Bell and his unsung role for the scrappy Hokies in this space. But it's worth checking out this piece about Bell by Darryl Slater of the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
