Ben Boggs named to all-ACC academic team
Virginia Tech freshman Ben Boggs on Wednesday was named to the all-ACC academic team.
The 12-player team was headlined by Duke's Brian Zoubek and Virginia's Jerome Meyinsse. Boggs was the only representative of the Hokies to earn the distinction.
To be eligible for consideration, a player must have earned a 3.00 grade-point average for the previous semester and maintained that same average during his career. Boggs is a freshman.
Boggs, a native of Roanoke, is majoring in human nutrition, foods and exercise. A 6-foot-4 guard, Boggs has made appearances in 24 games this season, but has mostly had a bit role in ACC play. In the Hokies' win over Longwood on Dec. 30, Boggs scored 10 points in 22 minutes, both career highs.
