Hokies guard Dorenzo Hudson has foot issues

Virginia Tech guard Dorenzo Hudson has been seen in a walking boot for a right foot injury he suffered earlier this season. But when Hudson briefly left the court to be evaluated during the Hokies' double-overtime loss to Maryland on Saturday, it was a renewed indication of how much his foot may be bothering him.

Hudson sprained his foot in the Hokies' loss at Florida State on Jan. 16 and re-aggravated the injury in a win at Virginia on Jan. 28. At times since then, he has been seen in a walking boot. The extend of the injury has not been well documented until it resurfaced as an issue on Saturday.

"He’s as fine as he’s been all season," Virginia Tech Coach Seth Greenberg said afterward. "We hold him out of practice most of the time, and he’s in a boot right now. But he’s playing through it.”

Hudson, who was not available to comment after the game, scored 21 points in 45 minutes against the Terrapins. His productivity has largely been unaffected by the foot injury, although it is apparently still bothering him more than he has let on.
