Malcolm Delaney named ACC player of week

It's been a big day for Virginia Tech's Malcolm Delaney.

On early Monday afternoon, the junior guard became the first Hokie to be unanimously selected first-team all-Atlantic Coast Conference. Hours later, he was named the ACC's player of the week for the first time this season.

Delaney earned the weekly honor after leading Virginia Tech to two big wins last week that helped them clinch a bye as the No. 4 seed in this week's ACC tournament in Greensboro, N.C., and likely an NCAA tournament at-large berth as well.

On Wednesday, Delaney scored a 21 points to led the Hokies over North Carolina State. And on Saturday, he scored a season-high-tying 32 points in a masterful performance at Georgia Tech.

The Hokies take on either fifth-seeded Wake Forest or 12th-seeded Miami on Friday afternoon in the ACC tournament.
