Poll: How will Hokies fare in ACC tournament?

Virginia Tech is in an unfamiliar position this week as it prepares for the ACC tournament. Instead of needing a win, or two, to gain an NCAA tournament berth, the Hokies are probably already in the tournament field.

In short, the pressure is off for Virginia Tech. Of course, the Hokies are still playing to improve their seeding in the Big Dance, and they would naturally like to make a run at the ACC tournament championship, even if it seems unlikely. But for all intents and purposes, they seem to be playing with house money.

As the No. 4 seed, Virginia Tech received a bye in the first round. It will play either fifth-seeded Wake Forest or 12th-seeded Miami on Friday afternoon. The Demon Deacons-Hurricanes matchup is slated for Thursday.

With a win in the quarterfinal, Virginia Tech would likely meet top-seeded Duke in the semifinal. The Hokies lost at Duke on Feb. 21, but put up an admirable fight in a hostile environment. A win against Duke and naturally the Hokies would be in the ACC tournament championship, and then who knows? But that will unfolded over the next few days.

For now, it's fun to speculate on how Virginia Tech will fare in the tournament. I'm thinking the Hokies will edge past Wake Forest in the quarterfinal and then lose in the semifinal to Duke. What's your take?

it pretty much happens every year, the hokies win one game in the acc tournament only to get outclassed in the following game.

the core of the team are juniors and this will be a great experience for them before they make a legitimate push next season.

good luck hokies!

Hokies won't do anything this season, or next season for that matter.

Other than sleep with their siblings and drink moonshine.
