Virginia Tech gets ready for NIT first round
It's a slow Tuesday in Blacksburg. Here's some leisurely reading to start your day.
After Virginia Tech's NCAA tournament bubble burst -- which shouldn't come as a surprise, writes Aaron McFarling of the Roanoke Times -- the Hokies are left looking toward a National Invitation Tournament matchup against Quinnipiac.
Quinnawho? Dave Fairbank of the Newport News Daily Press offers a look at Virginia Tech's opening round NIT opponent. It's pronounced KWIN-uh-PEE-ak. And as Fairbank writes, it's a "Native-American term meaning, 'He who rests in the shadow of Jim Calhoun.' " (Kidding.)
Tickets for the game Wednesday night at Cassell Coliseum went on sale on Monday. Adult tickets are $15 and student and youth tickets are $5. Tickets can be purchased by going online at hokietickets.com or by calling the Virginia Tech athletic ticket office.
