Virginia Tech plays huge game at Georgia Tech

ATLANTA -- Greetings from Atlanta. Let's get to some morning reading on a huge day for Virginia Tech.

In the Hokies' regular-season finale, they hope to knock off Georgia Tech here to basically lock up an NCAA tournament berth. As of now, they're on the bubble. And if that story sounds familiar, well, that's because it is. In each of the past two seasons, the Hokies have been the boys on the bubble.

Virginia Tech's showing here will also impact their seeding in next week's Atlantic Coast Conference tournament. Darryl Slater of the Richmond Times-Dispatch breaks down some possibilities for the Hokies, with an assist from Patrick Stevens of D1scourse. The bottom line is this: Virginia Tech will get a bye in the first round of the ACC tournament with a win over the Yellow Jackets.

And the esteemed David Teel of the Newport News Daily Press mixes some fact and opinion as ACC basketball teams prepare for this weekend's regular-season finales. It's a handy little guide to what should be an entertaining finish to a white-knuckle conference season.
