Coach leaves Virginia Tech basketball program

Let's get to your Thursday morning reading without hesitation.

First, there's some news from the Virginia Tech hardwood. Ryan Odom, an assistant coach for the Hokies for the past seven years, is leaving Blacksburg to join Alan Major's staff at Charlotte.

Part of the reason was so that he and his wife, Lucia, could return to their native North Carolina and another the reason is to put himself in position to become a head coach.

(Also, if you're in the Washington area, I'd suggest stopping by the Capital Classic at American University to see future Hokie Jarell Eddie. I'll be there.)

And finally, there's some Virginia Tech football news after a miniscrimmage at Wednesday's practice. One of the more entertaining storylines of spring practices continues to be the backup quarterback battle. Ju-Ju Clayton completed 8 of 14 passes for 112 yards. Logan Thomas threw for 75 yards, completing 5 of 12 passes.
