Video: 'We are Virginia Tech'
As I mentioned early, this particular Friday is not necessarily a sports day; it is a day of remembrance. It has been three years since the April 16, 2007, shooting in which 32 people were killed by a lone gunman on Virginia Tech's campus, and for many in Blacksburg, it is still an open wound. Here's a video of Nikki Giovanni, a university distinguished professor and a professor of English at Virginia Tech, and her stirring remarks at the 2007 convocation.

My thoughts will always be on those 32. For their dreams that were cut short I know I am one who will pursue my own in their honor. For all my brothers and sisters in and out of Blacksburg, we will always be united.
