Virginia Tech has third football miniscrimmage
It's Thursday and that means the NFL draft? This year it does. Here are your morning links.
I'll wrap up my NFL draft analysis of Virginia Tech players with the final two Hokies who I believe will be selected over the next three days. You can find profiles of the previous players here: Brent Bowden, Kam Chancellor, Cody Grimm and Sergio Render.
On Wednesday, Virginia Tech held its third and final miniscrimmage of the spring football season. It was a close session, but Kyle Tucker of the Norfolk Virginian Pilot reports on the statistics from the event. Of note: quarterback Logan Thomas finally broke out, completing 69 percent of his throws.
This is all in anticipation for the Hokies' tough season-opener against Boise State. But this summer, the most pressing issue for the football staff in Blacksburg may be re-sodding the practice field. Darryl Slater of the Richmond Times-Dispatch captured an image of the torn-up field. Or is Coach Frank Beamer, like Lloyd Christmas, preparing to open the world's largest worm farm?
