Wisconsin Museum Opens Major Exhibit
A major, permanent exhibit, "The Fiery Trial," opened recently at the new $16 million
Civil War Museum in Kenosha, WI. It focuses on the home front and tells the story of the men and women of the upper Midwest who experienced the war from their towns: Family, ministers, nurses, slaves, business owners and others.
Although Kenosha saw no combat, it is center of a region that sent 740,000 men to war. The regional museum represents six state including Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
According to the museum, 48,000 visitors have come through the doors since the opening in June.
