Chickamauga Anniversary Offers Tours, Lectures
The 146h anniversary of the Battle of Chickamauga will be marked by the National Park Service with an impressive array of tours, talks and demonstrations between Sept. 17 and 20. The battlefield, located in northwest Georgia, was the scene of heavy fighting between the Armies of the Cumberland and Tennessee with estimated casualties of 34,624 for the Union troops and 18,454 for the Confederate forces.
The battle, which took place between Sept. 18 and 20, 1863, was a Confederate victory.
