Confederate flag erased from Fredericksburg mural
A Fredericksburg, Va. movie theater owner was adding an outdoor bar
to his operation when he decided a mural with a Civil War theme, including the U.S. and Confederate flags, was appropriate for the location. After all, a battle had taken place right in the town.
He was wrong.
Complaints about the Confederate flag, visible from the street, came in even before the mural was finished, said Muvico theater general manager Kris Knox. He apologized to anyone who was offended and within a day, artist Matt Callahan was at work converting the Confederate flag into the mostly blue, state flag of Virginia.
