Veterans for Gettysburg forms to fight casino

In Harrisburg, Pa., today, a veterans' group announced its formation and its mission to protect the Gettysburg battlefield by opposing a proposed gambling casino at the edge of the national park. Speaking on behalf of the Veterans for Gettysburg were Jan Scruggs, Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund president, Edwin C. Bearss, Chief Historian Emeritus of the National Park Service and a WWII veteran as well as Peter Gaytan, executive director of the American Legion.

They and other supporters of the effort gathered in the Rotunda of the Pennsylvania State Capitol to call on the state's gaming control board to deny a Gettysburg businessman's application for a license to open the casino.

The entire country is against this casino 1/2 mile near Gettysburg!! See what Ken Burns, David McCullough, Medal of Honor recipient Paul W. Bucha (and others) say about this atrocious idea.
