Adam Williams Wins Arena Stage Contest
By Amber A. Young
Adam Williams won first prize in the Arena Stage Young Playwright Contest and a cash prize of $1500. His play,"Order's Imbalance," was performed by professional actors at Arena Stage. It is about his memory of leaving Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. His play was judged on personality, presentation and originality.

"I was nervous, anxious, excited, dizzy and lightheaded before I won, and even more nervous after I won," said Williams.
Before the final competition, Williams's play placed top ten in the citywide contest, where he won $750. Williams and other students from McKinley performed it that time.
The play started from a memoir he wrote about his experience leaving Louisiana after Katrina, and then he turned it into a play. He wrote it with three different voices- the good guy, the man in the middle and the bad guy. The good guy illustrated the five virtues and the bad guy, the seven deadly sins. The three voices are what made the play so unique.
The play will be performed again June 2, 2007 at the Broadcast Showcase.
