Men's Basketball Ranked by ESPN.com
by Brandi Bottalico '10, Staff Reporter
During the week of 23rd to the 29th, the second week of ESPN.com's ratings, Bishop Mcnamara's Men's Basketball was ranked as the thirtieth best in the nation. This accomplishment was based on the summer leagues that our team had played in the past summer.
"We have a couple of kids already signed Division 1 scholarships to college," Coach Martin Keithline said when asked why he believed that we were nationally ranked this season as opposed to previous seasons.
A previous ranking held by the team was seventh in the East region, by USA Today in 2004. So it was not the first time we've been ranked but certainly is a great privilege to reward the team for their hard preseason work. Although as Mr. Keithline points out, they'd rather be ranked at the end of the season, showing their improvements and challenges throughout.
The chance to get ranked at the end of the season is very possible, according to Mr. Keithline. He said, "We have a good chance. We just have to win a lot of games."
