The Old Bowie Town Grill was the gracious host site to a recent multipurpose fundraiser. On Sunday Feb. 15, 10 percent of the net profit collected by the restaurant was shared by the Irish Cultural Club and a senior service project run by Alex Clore, Melissa August, Sarah Cuellar, and Amy Belinky. At the end of the night, a total of $500 was raised. This balance was then divided evenly between the club and the project. This value was made possible by over 100 students and 250 McNamara family members.

The plan for the senior project is to repaint the senior religion classroom, room 400. A world map will be displayed over one of the three walls while the other two will be adorned with quotes regarding Bishop McNamara. "We Are Bishop McNamara," and "We are Holy Cross," will be painted on opposite spaces. These messages will be surrounded with various Holy Cross images, as well as those that apply directly to the school.

Now entering its third year, the Irish Cultural Club is becoming an exciting mainstay to the many activities offered. Last year, club moderator Adam Greer led a group of 26 students to Ireland to learn the culture, and just have some fun. As an alternative this year, the club plans to take part in numerous spring activities, including something for St. Patrick's Day. Club t-shirts are also in the works. The profit raised from the fundraiser will help to put these ideas into motion.

In a word, the day was described as "Fantastic" by club moderator Mr. Greer. The day was fun for those who made the trip while still fulfilling its purpose. Mr. Greer confirmed this saying that because so many people came out, success was inevitable.
