Metro Begins Selling Obama Fare Cards
Metro has begun selling commemorative SmarTrip passes and one-day fare cards featuring images of Barack Obama, available at the transit agency's on-line store.
The SmarTrip cards can be purchased for $10 without fare or $20, which includes $10 worth of fare pre-loaded on the card. One-day passes can be bought for $10; they will be good for one day during the Jan. 17-21 inaugural week.
Local Washington-area residents may buy the commemorative one-day passes from any Metro sales office or fare machine for $7.80 until Jan. 19, which is $2.20 cheaper than the $10 charge online or on Jan. 20. If you are going to be here for four days and planning to ride Metro each day, you need to buy a pass for each day. The commemorative SmarTrip cards are only sold online.
