Region's Leaders Request $75 Million for Inauguration

Mary Beth Sheridan writes that Mayor Adrian Fenty and governors Martin O'Malley and Tim Kaine have asked the federal government for $75 million to defray costs that will be incurred because of the inauguration.

Federal officials said they expect 150,000 people to jam Baltimore to view Obama on Jan. 17 during his District-bound train trip, the letter said. About 500,000 could pack the Mall for the opening inaugural event Jan. 18, as many as usually turn out for the annual Fourth of July celebration, the letter said.

At least 2 million people are expected at the swearing-in and parade on Jan. 20, according to the letter signed by Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley (D), Virginia Gov. Timothy M. Kaine (D) and D.C. Mayor Adrian M. Fenty (D).

The District has estimated its costs for the events will be more than $47 million; Virginia expects to spend $16 million and Maryland $12 million, the letter said. The biggest expenditures will be for law enforcement, communications, transportation and fire and emergency medical services.

I can't attend the Inaugural bash, but I can still toast the event by drinking the same California champagne that they'll probably be drinking. I visited Sonoma's Korbel Vineyards and learned Korbel Champagne has been served at every Inauguration since Reagan's in 1985. You can find more info at californiatravelgirl.blogspot.com

I wander if Obama would say something like this in the inauguration:-

"I BHO PROMISE TO FIGHT AND ELIMINATE CORRUPTION IN WASHINGTON, THE FINNACIAL SPECTRUM AND WORK FOR THIS GREAT NATION EVEN IF IN DOING SO IT REPRESENTS MY POLITICAL SUICIDE"

This has to be seen,... I think is an extreme far fetch theoretical scenario, do not you think?

Beside there is a little more to consider:

Quite curious. I wander if Obama and his 'MORE OF THE SAME/QUASI-CLONE CLINTON CABINET' will discuss the middle east problematic.
Are they ready or inclined to support Israel? I THINK NOT !
The best EVERYONE (the electorate), can do at this point is to OBSERVE CLOSELY what is going to be the course of action from part of Obama and his group,…not only regarding the middle east but EVERYTHING ELSE.

This is going to be ,…'FASCINATING' - as Mr Spock from Star Trek would say

Have a good day everyone.

Sincerely,
