Three Virginia Groups Invited to Inaugural Parade
The Presidential Inaugural Committee has asked three Virginia organizations to participate in the parade after President-elect Barack Obama is sworn in on Jan. 20: the T.C. Williams High School Army JROTC, the Virginia Military Institute Corps of Cadets, and the Hampton University Marching Force.
Those groups were selected from among the 1,300 applicants. The inaugural committee said today the exact number of applications it received was 1,382, a record number. In 2005, about 90 groups were picked to partcipate from among the 400 applicants.
