Jumbotron Locations Revealed on Mall
City and federal officials today announced the location for the more than 20 Jumbotrons that will be set up on the Mall for people to watch Barack Obama's swearing-in Jan. 20. With large crowds expected, officials said some people might not get a good, clear view of the President-elect taking the oath of office, so the Jumbotrons will be the best chance to watch the proceedings.
At a news conference today, officials said there will be six of the mega-screens between 14th Street NW and the U.S. Capitol and six more on the Mall south of White House (between 14th and 17th streets). There also will be five screens west of Washington Monument, three on the grounds of the Lincoln Memorial, and "several" on a nearby athletic field.
Update 11:31 a.m.: Officials said some of the Jumbotrons will be visible from the parade route along Pennsylvania Ave. but did not specify which ones.
Update 11:48 a.m.: Mayor Adrian M. Fenty said some Jumbotrons will be rolled onto Pennsylvania Ave. along the parade route to broadcast Obama's swearing-in and inaugural address complete with sound. The screens will then be rolled off in time for the parade to begin. Also, the Jumbotrons on the Mall will broadcast the parade for those who can't get to the parade route because of the crowds.
Update 3:25 p.m.: Officials are now telling us there will be no Jumbotrons on the parade route, after all.
Updated 6:24 p.m.: Final map of Jumbotron locations is here.

Does anyone have any idea if there will be jumbotrons on the Capitol grounds in the ticketed area for the Swearing-in ceremony? The ticketed area is so large there is no way you will be able to see or hear anything.

It would be nice to see a map of the exact locations. Tell your graphics editor to quit playing Solitaire.

This is only moderately helpful. How about a map of the actual locations?

I also am wondering if any Jumbotrons will be made available to those with tickets - particularly those with Silver tickets. Also, that map makes it appear that the area immediately to the west of the reflecting pool is fenced off - that does not correspond with the maps distributed by the Inaugural Committee - it is shown as Silver standing area. Which is correct?

This is incredibly annoying. No Screens on the parade route? Surely they can work something out

We still have four 9'x12' jumbotrons available and would be able to rent them at a very competitive rate. If anyone knows anyone with interest, please call me at 877-484-7425 ext.1 or visit us on the web at WWW.VISIBLEDISPLAY.COM
Thanks,

Any idea if there will be screens/sound along the parade route for the people who are lined up or seated early?
