Montgomery County (Md.) Releases Transportation Information
Planning to make your way from Montgomery County into the District for Tuesday's inaugural festivities? Montgomery government officials today put out some tips on parking, bus schedules and Metro access with a new Web site that will be updated with the latest information in the coming days.
County Ride On buses will be running on a normal weekday schedule, with the exception of 42 routes that serve Metro stations that will keep running until 10 p.m. The county will be providing a special shuttle service from Park and Ride lots along I-270 to the Shady Grove Metro station and allow parking at two high schools - Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School and Richard Montgomery High School - that are within walking distance of Metro stops. The fare for the shuttle is $3 in cash only for Ride On's all-day pass, which can be purchased on the bus. And those who plan to park at Metro garages must pay the $4 fee in cash. No SmarTrip cards.
Government officials also urge residents to sign up for the county's alert system to get emails on Inauguration Day about road closures, heavy traffic or emergencies.
