Obama Opens White House Wednesday; Sign Up Now!

President-elect Barack Obama is opening the White House doors Wednesday to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Presidential Inaugural Committee sent out an e-mail today saying "If you are among the first to sign up today, you and a friend could be there."

Hundreds will be allowed into the doors on Wednesday. It's an unusual open door event since getting a tour of the White House is like trying to score inaugural ball tickets.

For those who want to get in, sign up here.

Incredible! I figured this out. I didn't recieve this email update from the PIC. This must be going out to locale people.
What about the people are going to be in DC but have a California address like me? We get nothing? Also with a donation? Very poor how they handled this.

Seriously? They open up the White House - which has been all but hermetically sealed since 2001 - and you complain?

They might be doing this to make up for the Neighborhood Ball fiasco, in which most of the tickets went to those with connections instead of giving the locals a fair shot at snagging a ticket.

I had my name in all of 20 seconds after it hit my inbox. Fingers crossed...

Maybe they just invited volunteers like me who will be freezing outside for 10 - 12 hours on Sunday and Tuesday? That would be very nice them!

Party at the White House!
Cold 40s and ribs for the first few lucky ones!

I didn't get this email. Wonder if it was for locals only.

Washington Post has always been about truth and accuracy in it's reporting. I hope it will not join the sensationalist mass media in reporting on Mr. Obama.
Once again the "mixed race" are shunned and avoided as much as Mr Obama's mother.
Mr.Obama is a white man because of his mother, yes? No, he is mixed race.
Mr. Obama ia a black man because of his father, yes? No, he is mixed race.
To me, Mr. Obama is wrong to call himself "mutt" but in his doing atleast he is truthful about his not being black.
Who started this misunderstanding anyhow? Who decided that Obama is a black man inspite of his mother?
For those who insist on calling him "our first black president", a hollow victory is yours. The mixed race people of this country and world, however, can take heart and be proud regardless of the tag-along, shallow media. Just the truth media. It's your job.
