Power Outage at Moby's Show
What happens when you pack a club for inauguration week and the power goes out? That philosophical question was answered in the wee hours Monday morning at the 9:30 Club at 815 V. St. NW, when Moby was entertaining a full house. According to a source, the entire block lost power just before 2 a.m. and the club went dark. With no electricity, Moby reportedly took a pair of drumsticks and began banging out a beat on a beer keg for a good 10 minutes. Bartenders were working by flashlight, with no register access.
Half an hour later, the power still had not come on and the club began issuing rain checks. But then, at 2:45 a.m, all of a sudden the power returned and the show resumed, albeit briefly, with just a small crowd remaining.
