Save Darfur Coalition Planning Demonstration
Three hundreds activists from the Save Darfur Coalition will be demonstration outside Metro stations wearing green caps and yellow t-shirts that read: “End the Genocide: www.addyourvoice.org .” They will have signs and petitions calling on President-elect Obama to take action to end genocide in Darfur.
The activists will be out from 5 a.m. to 6:30 p.m at the following Metro stations: Metro Center, Gallery Place/Chinatown, Federal Triangle, Judiciary Square, L'Enfant Plaza, Federal Center SW, Union Station and Capitol South.
Meanwhile the American Muslim Taskforce on Civil Rights and Elections, a coalition of 12 major Islamic organizations, will release 44 doves, one for each American president. The dove release will take place Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Outside Masjid Muhammad, 1519 4th St N.W., Washington, D.C. The event "is intended to symbolize the American Muslim community’s desire for a more peaceful world and to highlight the key role a president plays in achieving peace based on justice and freedom," according to a press release from the group.
