Season Thus Far: Navy

Navy (9-2)
Highlights

* 5-4 win over Maryland was its third consecutive win at Byrd Stadium.
* 3-2 record in one-goal games. Midshipmen went 0-3 in such games last year.

MVP:
D Brendan Teague, senior
Has won his matchups against Bucknell's Austin Winters, Colgate's Matt Lalli and Maryland's Grant Catalino. Navy won all three games.

Keep an eye on: Junior GK Tommy Phelan. Clearly watches film--he guessed correctly all night against Maryland. Was the starting goalie for Loyola (Balt.) in high school, which means he has seen a very high level of lacrosse.

Projected NCAA tournament seed: 7
Directions to Foxborough: Navy won't bat an eye if it has to play Cornell in Ithaca, though needless to say, playing at home in the quarterfinals is preferable. Navy-Syracuse or Navy-Virginia would be fascinating. Orange and Cavaliers have deep offenses; Navy has a deep defense. Because Navy's 6 on 6 offense is not the finished product yet, I think it would do well to avoid a team with a great goalie. The mind boggles at Navy-Duke in Annapolis. It would be a zoo.
