In-Game Update, Part I
I'm only allowed to do this a couple times during the game. So anyway, a quick update on the first quarter.
Johns Hopkins had the ball for 5 minutes 51 seconds.
The folks behind me from Laxnation have been very disappointed, for lack of a better term, with Syracuse's shot selection.
They think the way to beat goalie Michael Gvozden is with shots low and away, since Gvozden hugs the inside pipe. And almost all of Syracuse's early shots have been high and to the inside pipe, i.e. right into Gvozden's stick.

To 20015--
The point I was trying to convey wasn't so much where SU should shoot, because as you note, low and away is the gold standard. It was that Syracuse was shooting right at Gvozden for much of the first half.
fwiw the guys at Laxnation really knew their stuff. I was impressed. At one point after Rabil missed a shot just wide one of them said, "Rabil doesn't miss. He just takes mercy." Good stuff.

Shots placed low and away will beat most goalies.
