My hat off to Chile's authorities promt response to the disaster. Buenos Aires was flooded with no power for more than 24 hours and in some neighborhoods for days, and victims are still waiting for help.

Here are some photos are a running commentary from my wife who lives in Santiago:

I live in Santiago, thank God we live in a priviledge part of the city. Santiago is still standing and hopefully going back to normal today. Only few buildings and highways have been hit. Some parts of teh city, including my apt still have no power and/or water, but the gov't is working hard to fix that. The south deff got the worst of it, smaller town and cities have been completly wiped out. The place where I went on vacation this past January is completly destroyed. All my prayers and thoughts go out to the people less fortunate than me, I am doing everything I can to volunteer here in the city or go down south to help.
All your prayers and good thoughts are really apreciated and welcomed.
Washington to me is like my second Home, I lived in Frederick, MD for many years..
