A Holiday at Home and the Weekend Poll

My family is not big on traveling for spring break. We like to spend Easter week at home, not in small part because it's a beautiful time of year for a holiday. Why leave Washington in spring? Let me get outta here in August.

It's shaping up to be a good holiday weekend. My daughter will be coming home from college for a visit, and the whole family will be together for the most important religious holiday of the year, one that blessedly does not involve gift lists, needle-dropping evergreens and stress. After church we'll have a spring-ish dinner (I'm thinking a lemony chicken piccata, asparagus and lobster ravioli), accompanied by cut flowers, too much chocolate and some time on the porch. It so beats an airport line.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend as well.
