Resolutions for next year's holiday season
Well, the Thanksgiving-through-New Year's holiday marathon is over. All that's left is to un-decorate the house, haul a dead evergreen out to the curb...and regain my composure. While this year's festivities are still fresh on my mind, I resolve (again) to make next year's holidays more efficient and less stressful. Here are my resolutions:

Germany Takes Top Honors in Solar Decathlon
Team Germany--led by students from Technische Universitat Darmstadt--won top honors overall in the 2009 Solar Decathlon, the Department of Energy announced today. Second place, overall, went to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and third place went to Team California, which was a partnership of Santa Clara University and California College of the Arts.

Washington, D.C., ties with Seattle to lead the Wall Street Journal's new list of 10 cities that will be "the hottest, hippest destinations for highly mobile, educated workers in their twenties when the economy gets going again."

Money Magazine Slices and Dices Cities
Drinks are on you, Arlingtonians! Money Magazine says you're living in the Number Two spot in the country for the "rich and single." (Hermosa Beach, Calif., was tops.) According to Money, almost 42 percent of Arlingtonians are single, and the 2008 median income was $108,815. (Btw, did you know you were rich?)

Dreaming About the Seaside
I have beach houses and vacations on the mind this week--probably because I'm not going to enjoy much of either this summer. It's just too busy with family responsibilities and other duties to carve out a week on the Delaware shore. But a little searching showed that rentals are still available, even around Independence Day.
