3 shot in Washington Highlands in SE

By Terri Rupar

Three people were shot and wounded late Friday in the Washington Highlands section of Southeast Washington, authorities said.

The shootings occurred about 10:30 p.m. near 8th and Yuma streets SE.

The victims were all taken to hospitals after the incident, which occurred in a residential area, about one mile east of the site where three people were killed and six wounded March 30 in one of the District’s most violent outbreaks in years.

No motive was known in the Friday night attack, but there was no indication late last night of any connection with the earlier incident.
