More rabbits found in Columbia home

By Associated Press

UPDATE:

Howard County Animal Control officials said they removed an additional 14 rabbits Thursday from a home in Columbia, a day after taking 64 from the residence. The total number removed is now 78.

The Associated Press reported that the first batch of rabbits were found roaming free in the home. Police say they were generally in good health despite living in an unclean and unsafe environment.

Their owner agreed to turn over the rabbits to the county’s Animal Control and Adoption Center, and they’re now available for adoption.

Police say an investigation will determine whether criminal or civil charges will be filed.

Howard County police say animal control officers have dozens of rabbits living inside a home in Columbia.

The 64 rabbits were roaming free in the home. Police say they’re generally in good health despite living in an unclean and unsafe environment. Officers came to the home Wednesday after getting an anonymous tip, and they’ll be returning to make sure they didn’t miss any rabbits during the first search.

Their owner agreed to turn over the rabbits to the county’s Animal Control and Adoption Center, and they’re now available for adoption.

Police say an investigation will determine whether criminal or civil charges will be filed.

"Howard County police say animal control officers have dozens of rabbits living inside a home in Columbia."

Why don't they use their own houses?
