Inmate dies in Frederick County

By Washington Post editors

A man who was in the work-release program of the Frederick County Adult Detention Center died Saturday night at Frederick Memorial Hospital, according to Cpl. Jennifer Bailey, a sheriff's office spokeswoman, the Frederick News-Post reports.

The inmate, who was not identified, arrived at the work release center about 9 a.m. Saturday, Bailey said. He was found at 10:06 p.m. on the floor of a shower. He was conscious. He was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital, where he died about an hour after he arrived, Bailey said.

The incident is the fourth death at the detention center since June 2009. Three people committed suicide at the facility.
