Body of Lorton man found in Lake Anna

By Washington Post Editors

Authorities say divers have found the body of a Lorton man reported missing after he fell into Lake Anna.

Lt. James Bibens of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's office says the body of 20-year-old Kerolos Nadik Makhloof was found Saturday morning off of Magnolia Harbour near channel 16.

Bibens says Makhloof was with a group of friends on a pontoon boat when he fell into the water on Friday. Rescue teams began searching for him that afternoon but had to call off the search when night fell.

Bibens says the man was not wearing a safety jacket.

Sad that a man has to die just because he didn't wear a life jacket, on a brighter note if he trusted in the Lord he will be fine. If he was illegal then hope he rots.

ZCX nissan, your whole family was ilegal when they came to U.S. Unless you are a American Indian you dont have the right to judge anyone else based on their legal status. Your family genes have deteriated when you were born. Are you sure your sister is not mom? Oh yeah people like you; God wants nothing to do with you. You can pray all you want and repent your sins. But you will never be a child of god. Nor will you ever be excepted to his kingdom.

The guy's dead. I'm not laughing.

"If he was illegal then hope he rots": Is that what Jesus would say?

Comments like zcxnissan's are a good argument for why comments should be discontinued. What a load of garbage this poor pathetic person is.

Sorry telluhowitis i am part Indian as well as European and both sides of my family immigrated to the US legally. In the 1960's and the late 1800's. They didn't just overstay a visa or climbed over or crawled under a fence. Comments in support of illegal immigration are why some people shouldn't be allowed to think, go back to your bongs.

zcxnissan, you are allowed to think, too bad you don't! Immigrating "legally" when you're family did it meant you had to show up! They let anyone in. I'm waiting for the hilarity to ensue when Arizona farmers can't get migrant workers to help bring in their crops! Anyway, I'm getting away from my main point. Your comment that people supporting illegal immigration shouldn't be allowed to think, is completely idiotic. It makes no sense at all. But even worse, you portray yourself as a Christian, yet you want people to rot in hell. A completely non-Christian point of view! Lucky for you God even loves the stupid!

While it is widely know that there are insensitive and opportunistic radicals like you out there, it doesn't make it any easier to swallow. I hope that you are proud that you have no problem racially profiling a young man, just because of his name. You know nothing about him. Here are a few snippets:
Rising VCU Senior
Student Government involvement
Resident Assistant
Involved with endless community service organizations

He was here 100 percent LEGALLY and has had more of a profound impact on the communities he had lived in than most folks that can trace their roots back to the revolution. So go ahead and put away your bigoted, racist comments while those that were fortunate enough to know this young man celebrate his life.

What does the immigration debate have to do with a guy falling in a lake? Is it because he has a foreign sounding name? People like you make me sick. If a tragic accident happend to me or my family would our grief not count as much because we have foreign sounding names. You are a Looser, you probably have a small d*** and you need to go get laid and stop worrying about peoples legal status. HATER.

I think you meant "accepted". Excepted would mean excluded.
No idea how anyone's resident or immagration status would have anything to do with a drowning. That's quite a stretch.
Not to the point of Al Gore's having invented the internet but, a stretch all the same.

It's not atypical for someone to hide their immigration status with extra curricular things. Typically as a sanctuary county Fairfax is like this. You religious folk make me puke, forcing your endless wars on us. Next thing you will be telling me you voted for Bush too, sick. They didn't just let anyone in like they do nowadays. they disallowed you if you were diseased or a criminal unlike today, where you are rewarded with illegal driver's licenses and jobs and homes. No wonder most people don't support illegal immigration. It is sad that a human has to die for lack of following basic safety precautions, oh well.

May you enjoy your hatred and bigoted thoughts. You have every right to express them in this great country of ours. Unfortunately you and the folks at the Westboro Baptist church take advantage of those rights that 99.9% of Americans treat with respect. Sort of like the illegal immigrants that you spread your hate about. 99% of the people in the US with names that you "think" sound foreign are law abiding, tax paying Americans.

Maybe you and the WBC can learn a little about respecting a family's loss, rather than attempting to exploit your hatred of others that do not resemble you.

varesident as i said before i don't believe in your hocus pocus religious cra$ and don't force others to believe your Baptist church opinions or whatever myth you want to believe in. My ancestors were here before yours so deal with it. Typically those tax paying foreign name sounding visitors are doing so illegally. Half of illegal immigrants are doing this the other half aren't paying at all. I guess it's only fair that some businesses exploit them, after all will they complain?

@zcxnissan it breaks my heart to read what you wrote. kerolos was one of the greatest people i have ever met in my entire life. he attended VCU in richmond, va. had a great GPA, never partied or went crazy.. and was on a boat with his friends from church that day he drowned. he valued jesus christ more than any of us may. he was deathly afraid of water, because he couldnt swim and he was pushed in by someone. He was ready to face his fears that day, he bought a bathing suit and was working up the courage to jump in when he was pushed in and never seen again. RIP kerolos.
