Budget forum in Montgomery tonight
Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett (D) is sponsoring a budget forum tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Silver Spring to hear from residents about proposed cuts to the fiscal year 2011 budget.
Like other jurisdictions, the budget picture has been bleak in Montgomery County, which faces another $70 million in cuts to its current year's budget.
The public session will be held at the clubhouse on the grounds of Leisure World, 3700 Rossmoor Blvd. Tonight's forum is one of five being held this month. A second forum is schedule for Thursday, Jan. 21 at Long Branch Community Center at 8700 Piney Branch Road. A final forum will be in Bethesda at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center on Jan. 27.
For those who cannot make the journey, Leggett will hold a "virtual" town hall meeting. Residents are invited to participate.
