Car hits building on Connecticut Ave. NW

By Terri Rupar

A car hit a building housing a nail salon and sandwich shop Thursday night after leaving Connecticut Avenue in Northwest Washington, authorities said.

The 65-year-old driver of the car may have suffered a medical emergency, which could have caused the vehicle to run up on a sidewalk in the 4400 block of Connecticut Avenue about 7:30 p.m., said Pete Piringer, a fire department spokesman. The man was taken to a hospital in critical condtion.

No other injuries were reported. The car did not cause significant damage to a nail salon and Quiznos restaurant but did plow through cafe chairs on the sidewalk, Piringer said.

Huh, I like to get my hair cut at the Cut-n-Edge, just on the other side of Quizno's from the nail salon...
