Council extends contract deadline
The D.C. Council has unanimously approved extending the deadline it set in December over contracts adopted by Mayor Adrian M. Fenty's administration that were not submitted to the council for approval.
Tuesday's move is a retreat from the council's threat to stop payment at midnight Wednesday on $875 million in contracts and gives Fenty another week to submit them to the council for approval or again risk halting payments to dozens of contractors.
