Council gives nod to electing city attorney

The D.C. Wire is reporting that the D.C. Council has unanimously approved a proposal for voters to select the city attorney instead of allowing the mayor to fill the position.
The decision still must be reaffirmed with a second vote later this month, and it does not mean there will be an elected attorney general anytime soon. For the change to be implemented, gress would have to amend the city's Home Rule charter.
