Ever seen a Tigon? 5 fun blog posts

By Washington Post editors

Here's hoping you're sitting in a place where the air conditioner is blasting.

In honor of the third day of triple-digit heat, (the Capital Weather Gang promises that it'll cool down tomorrow) we offer more heat-related blog posts and a few other bonus entries. (Ever heard of a liger? Read on!)

Courtesy of Vox Populi, here’s a list of things to do when it’s too hot to think. (Might want to keep this around. According to today’s Post weather story, it’s going to be a very, very hot summer.)

I Spy Things DC says maybe we should all stop whining. It’s D.C. It’s summer. It’s ALWAYS hot. (Included in the post, a fun recipe for a summer day in Washington.)

Has Georgetown become ice cream/frozen yogurt central? In honor of the opening of Georgetown Scoops, the Georgetown Metropolitan offers this handy map of ice cream shops in the neighborhood. Make mine a waffle cone, please.

Newspaper reporters, distributors and chefs – a job programs for the homeless that benefits them (and you), according to the blog Help the District.

Ligers and Tigons and Pizzly Bears? Oh my. This post about unusual animal hybrids comes to us courtesy of Surprising Science, one of the Smithsonian’s many fabulous blogs. Pictures too!

Thanks for reading. We'll be back tomorrow. Remember: if you know of a fabulous D.C. area blog we should be reading -- just post a comment below or message aratanil@washpost.com.
